Beginner help

Post by clobby on Thu 29 Mar 2012, 5:26 pm

Hello, I am moving to the Vernal area this summer and I have been wanting to get into ww kayaking for a while now and I figured this would be the summer to do it since Vernal being Vernal and all. Anyone know of any beginner roll classes in the area or within a few hour drive over the weekend. Moab maybe? Also are there any clubs in the area? Thanks

clobby

Check out the links to the right. Utah Kayak School is a good '1 on 1' class to learn the basics. There is also a WW Club that always do fun trips with fun people. All these links are over there ------>

If there is anymore questions I'm sure you can either use the search function or just ask!

If there is an outfitter in Vernal that rents whitewater kayaks, they might have roll lessons. If there is a local college with a swimming pool, they might have a pool session (or you might be able to organize a kayak pool session, in any local pool).
Clicking on the Utah Whitewater Club link on the right side of this page, and then clicking on "Calendar", I see a trip on the Green River Daily, which would be a great one for you.

Thanks for the help. That Green river trip looks like its right up my alley. Hopefully I can make it on that.

Check out our kayak school, Rapid Progression. We are doing an open pool lesson on the 19th of April at Weber State. Great one on one instruction, we'll get you ready for the river
