Any advice on replacing the rigging in a boat?

Post by NoThanksNecessary on Fri 27 Apr 2012, 9:34 pm

I'm a noob to the sport, and I'm broke, so I'm trying to find something that will let me get down the river this year and have a little fun. I'm not looking for a new or upper end model just yet. I found a boat recently that fits my budget, and its a model I was able to demo last year so I know its what I want... So, here's my question, how do I add ratchet straps to the boat, to tighten the back band? There aren't any currently on the boat I want to buy, but they were on the same model I used last year. I figured I could use some old snow board bindings and some rivets.... Or does anyone out there have a boat that's beyond repair, that would sell me the rigging?

Thanks for any thoughts or advice.

i dont know if this helps you out or not, but if you cant figure out how to outfit that boat i have an old perception dancer with a skirt and float bags i would get rid of for 100 bucks. its not pretty but it floats. i spent part of my first season in it. sorry to sort of hijack your thread, i just thought it might be of interest to you.

What kind of boat did you get? I think your idea of using snowboard straps might work out. It might be easier to rig up a back band with cam straps/cams instead though.
