mid-day Sat: Logan or Ogden?

Post by wasatchbill on Sat 05 May 2012, 2:57 am

How about an Ogden Narrows rock slalom; "Bring your playboat and your full face helmet" :-). And elbow pads. Short creekers are perfect; AF-style.
If the Logan holds at 360+ I'd be up for Monolith.
Playing it by ear; will check levels and the weather.

People should be aware that OPP has two trackhoes in it, and its taped off with police tape. Its also way lower than Gateway, since they are diverting as much as possible. Not an option right now; go to Crystal for Ogden-area park n play.

The narrows is runnable? Anyone actually run it lately, and at what level? I would be down if tis not too bad. But, otherwise... I did both the Upper and Woodcamp on Logan top to bottom yesterday. Both were great. Scrapped a few rocks, but nothing serious Monolith was sweet and same with ST Annes and the rock garden. A few nice surf waves are in on each section. Also, the diversion wave is in... Great warm up spot. 4 full sections definitely running. Would be down if anyone wants to come up. Just holler, four three 5 two 3 two, five three 8 three. Chow :-)

Hi Dave- Welcome Back!
I think upper L at 370 would be a bit better than Narrows at 207, but Im not psyched for the drive at the moment, so I'm gonna do the Narrows today. Maybe tomorrow for Logan, especially if it bumps up.
Those guys have been doing the Narrows since it was 120; I heard something about broken boats at that level :-), but 207 is "legit Utah class IV". At least it is this year.
Joke warning! Joke warning! alien
Lets see, how do I put those shoulder pads into my other drytop...

Sad thing is Bill it is considered by some to be a legit Class IV. I wish narrows would hit 300 or more. 650 is my favorite level, but good luck on that.

we have been running the narrows at 130ish as a min in play boats for years. its great when nothing else is going. at 200 its is still legit. you have to be on your game. there is plenty of water to hit a good line. and even surf the wall drop. 650 is the bomb, but we know that we most likely see that this year. so take what you can get.

Oh yeah I have ran the narrows as low as 47 cfs. It is a fun run, and if I was not busy with other things today I would go. It is a run river at most flows.
