Come join us for the annual Ogden Narrows Downriver Race on Sept 22nd in Ogden UT. This is a dam controlled river and we are requesting a recreational release on Friday the 21st to use as a practice day. Keep tuned in for updates!

We had a little timing snaffoo last year- that has been corrected.

I'm looking for people to set safety from the shore. Throw ropes, helmets, PFD's... and the ability to show up on time and go fishing for swimmers!

Update- Its looking like the Friday practice release will be approved. I've requested 450cfs between 4pm and 7pm on Friday the 21st of Sept. Come get some warm up laps in prior to the race.

Well, shit....

Just got a call from Ogden City. Due to an extremely dry year the race is being cancelled due to lack of water. The residents of Ogden are on water rationing and the Mayor didn't think it wise to have a recreational release. Next year's race might move dates to prevent this from happening again.

Plan on a spring Ogden Narrows Race from now on, to avoid such issues (and a few others that the current date causes). I'll advise on the new date for the race early next year. And yes, pray for snow!

Doesn't the city like to incorporate the race with the Mountain to Metro fest?

The race is in no way connected to those events other than it falling on the same day. It actually makes it more difficult during some of the planning since resources are used for M2M.

Shoot. I was looking forward to it. Thanks for all your work on it. I can imagine you have put a ton of work into it and to have it cancelled has got to suck.

For what it is worth I love having it in September because nothing else is going but if it is at risk of this happening then maybe that is a good reason to move it.

Yeah, I'll decide early in the year based on the snowpack we've gotten by then.

Bummer. But understandable. Let us know if the spring event comes together. Rendezvous River Sports and us can help out with bibs, timing, prizes, etc!!
