Grey's River Slalom Race, Sunday, Sept 9th.

Post by jhkayakclub on Wed 15 Aug 2012, 5:23 pm

The 2012 Deb Martin Memorial Slalom Race is set for Sunday, Sept 9th, 12pm on the Grey's River near Alpine, WY. We will have the course fully set by Saturday, Sept 8th for everyone to get some practice. Then enjoy great camping Saturday night and Sunday nights.

BBQ and beer will be provided post race as well.

We will have divisions for playboats and creek boats and this a really fun, low key race with some great prizes and good times. Always a good mix of beginner to advanced racers so even if you have never raced slalom, this is a great time to come out and learn how!!

Come out and race in memory of great, local boater Deb Martin, plus support the youth paddling programs of the Jackson Hole Kayak Club!!

Email brent@jhkayakclub.org with any questions!

Awesome! I'll most likely make it up there for that race, and I'll bring some other boaters from UT. Thanks for posting it.

Great. We would love to have some of you guys up here! Looks like many of our youth paddlers are fired up about coming down for the Ogden race as well.

Umm, guessing bony low in some rapids above and below Snaggletooth, but where they set the gates is plenty deep enough. Usually the rapid above Snaggletooth.

Yea, the gates will be hung in the rapid just above Snaggletooth. Course is on a short, narrow stretch of river that even at low water in September is deep enough to paddle with some of the gates over slower moving pools. Looks like gauge is around 335 cfs right now.
