Virgin River Gorge Info?

Post by telebri1 on Thu 23 Aug 2012, 12:50 am

My friend called and told me that southern Utah has been getting a lot of rain lately. Apparently, the Virgin River Gorge usually runs early season but with all the water it is paddleable now. Can anyone give me any info on this run? I am curious if it is short term rain bump or will it be flowing for a few weeks? He mentioned that his guide book spoke of portages but he doesn't think there are any now. Any relevant information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance:)

this will give you all the info you would need to make that decision. It does look alot like dirty chocolate milk though. Let me know if you are coming down.

Just a side note however, we have had lots of flash flood activity in the area and will likely continue through tomorrow.

Your first mistake is that you are still using a Walkman ;-)

"I don't know what happened, I had just pumped up my sneakers, put my Oakley blades on and cranked my Walkman and next thing I knew I was hit by a wall of sticks. I thought my thermocolor shirt would tip me off to the temperature swing but no luck".
