Wasserman...Yeah, I got SWATTED at SWAT. I had to carry a 275 lb guy (300 with gear) and subsequently blew out a disc. I didn't know I did so much damage at the time and just thought I was sore. It wasn't til May that I realized I had some problems. It was healing on it's own, but last month it blew out completely and off to the ER I went. I had to get 2 vertebra fused and the flat disc removed. I'm up and doing great though and hope to be boating again this Spring. So, I expecting to see you on the AF once thaw comes.

Wow how time fly's! Thinking back over this season I never thought it was going to be this good! And I am sure alot of you are in the same boat!

I got so many runs checked off and many more that I never thought I would!
I had so many first time runs it was unreal. I have to thank all the good friends who went with me! So here goes my list of things I ran for the first time..

I feel like I am missing some and there will be a few more to add..
Looking back on our must hit lists is cool. Looks like I got most of them checked off. I still need to do the narrows!

This season is still going but I want to say thanks to all the awesome friends that have made this year one to remember. Kayaking has changed my life and I am so great full for all the friends that I get to spend my time with.

So who else checked off there list!

Funny to re-read the first post on this thread:
..."for the next annual 'shortest runoff season in the country so you better take advantage of it when it comes'."
Ha ha, lets say that this October, and see if we get another spring like this one!

Lets see, I checked off the mighty Spanish Fork last fall :-).

This spring, who would have thought:
-Pineview @1600 is such a good class IV run;
-lower half of Ogden Narrows (demon down) @1400 would be one of the more exciting things I've ever paddled;
-BV @1500, and the locals would think "the gauge is reading too low";
-89 to Riverdale would be an hour run above 3000, with some Lunch Counter sized waves (Lunch Counter at summer flows anyway)...
Joes over 1000? Huntington Top Slides, rediscovered?

I finally got a redemption run on the Ogden Narrows (swam at 460 awhile back); got in there after it came waayy down... to 700 :-).
Upper Logan @1300 was a highlight of the season for sure; especially the way it came together; up there with no partner, and ran into a great crew of 5 locals.

Muddy Creek - a classic for sure.
Greys Snaggletooth- love that run; did it 3 weekends in a row recently.

ID and the rest - Haven't even gotten there this year. Definitely Utah-centric this season. Biggest miss feels like LFH; hopefully next year. Staircase is on the list, since I like the Logan so much.

That Teton hike with Brighton got me thinking about paddling/mountaineering combo trips, especially in the Jackson area- the Tetons are awesome! I want to do Teewinot and Owen!

Wound up doing far less than I meant to. Not my best year in a kayak.
Spent a lot of time in the Joe's valley area, and did a ton of surfing.
Did the full lower ferron run a handful of times.
Muddy was a gem.
Ran the lower Ogden almost to the lake.
2 head wounds which was a first for me.
Had a hard Time sacking up for the gnarrows and eggs at record flows. Oh well.
Took some spectacular photos and even got a couple published in kayak session magazine.
As far as next season, looking to get back to Cali and the pnw.

Wow, I forgot about this thread... Yup, certainly not the "shortest runoff" I was predicting, or small by any means-

I finally made the pilgramage to the Payette's, checked off the Alpine trip, and the easy middle Provo; unfortunately I never made it on those Logan runs, upper Green River, or the Upper Bear river stretches. A few unexpected new runs, though, made up for those loses-Muddy Creek, South Fork Payette canyon section, upper Greys, and the upper Big Lost River...and swimming the Ogden Narrows waterfall section for the first time ever, that sucked.

Next year, I dunno, maybe some secret squirrel runs I've had my eyes on for a while. Those Logan sections need to get checked off; and of course (cross my fingers) try for a Gates of Lodore permit again.

Say Dave, put Westwater on your list, and its still running (need permit tho).
And Cisco,UT is 2/3rds of the way to Shoshone, which is running.
And Glenwood Springs, CO is just a couple hours from Gore. Which is running.
Or, just go straight to Gore (gulp!) Actually, the Payettes is closer to Ogden/Logan, and - its running. So are the Malad and Murtaugh, which are on the way. Road trip!
