Paddling New Years day

Post by c-dub on Thu 27 Dec 2012, 12:58 am

If the weather is reasonable, there are a couple of us planning on floating the Mighty Jordan New Years day. Putting in at the kids park at 126th and taking out at 114th(new park). The professor and I floated it to check it out last weekend. Tons of waterfowl, channels through all the shallows, and a couple nice deep eddy lines. The high flows really cleaned everything up. If the weather is above freezing and the sun is shining, will most likely BBQ at the take out. If the weather goes to hell, probably cancel the whole shebang. Looking to start the year off right. Meeting at the put in at 1:30, for anyone interested.

Reality is I am to. The only real variable is whether we wait for the bbq in below freezing weather at the take out or the 104 degree tub at browning ave.

Daniel,

Craig and I floated it last Saturday. Pretty bony, but still super fun(I got a few stern squirts on a couple of deep eddylines...). Tons of waterfowl, and really felt like far from the urban scene... Hope you can make it! Bring old man Merrill, as well...

Happy Holidays!!!

More water than Joes Valley(currently 4.5 cfs). What the professor said. Pretty stinkin low, but there are channels through everything if you pay attention(we admittedly got hung up a few times while bullshitting). Taking the playboat. No waves or anything, but there were some substantialy deep eddie lines.

It will be good to see and catch up with you Daniel!

Cheers!

I am in.

The run from 12600 to 11400 is a very short run. If anyone wants to put in further South in Bluffdale and go to 11400 let me know and we could launch earlier to meet the rest of the group at 12600.

I normally put in just north of 14400 south in the subdivision in the river bottoms.

It will be nice to meet some other boaters!
