Rafting Trips!

Post by shawn on Wed 17 Apr 2013, 11:55 am

Hi all, I'm looking to get together a few rafting trips this spring and am in need of fellow boaters that are looking for the same. I have my own raft (14' Aire) and have taken it down the Grand Canyon, High water Cat trips, Middle Fork of the Salmon, Hell's Canyon and a bunch of others. I'm 31, have been boating for 13 years and have tons of river miles under my belt. I kayak too, but tend to mostly raft these days due to some shoulder problems.

I would love to get a Cataract Canyon trip together for may or early June. I'd be down for anything less than 25K CFS. I've been on it at higher flows and it gets a little scary, unless we get together a really bomber crew. As far as low flow trips go, I would be pretty interested if somebody has a motor. If you have a permit for a Deso trip or an Idaho trip (e.g. the Salmon), I'd be stoked too. There are also a bunch of other rivers I'd love to run, like the Owyhee and the Jarbidge.

If you have a permit and need more rafts, have a raft and are looking for other rafters, or have a kayak and want to get on a trip, let's plan something!

Hey Shawn, I am a kayaker but would love to jump on a trip with you! I have been on a lot of multi-dayers as a kayaker so I know how much work/planning a trip can be. I am interested in getting into self-support kayaking but would like to have rafters along for safety. I have done a Cataract Canyon trip (really low water) as well as many MFSR, and hells trips at raging levels. If you are interested in taking a kayaker along on a multi-dayer i would love to go, I can also run safety in some of the harder rapids in rafts/cats if you would like.

email me if you are interested Bridger.koenig@yahoo.com

The Wasatch Mt Club has a boating group that does a lot of multi-day raft trips. Check out

You might also check out the Utah Whitewater Club, though they are more car camping/day trip oriented.
