I-89 to Riverdale

Post by snwsrfr on Sun 09 Jun 2013, 4:19 pm

Looking for any info on running this section of the Weber. Currently running at 380cfs which AW lists as below recommendation but there is no description of the run. Anybody run it lately? Is it do-able at this level? Anyone interested in running it?

400 cfs was the minimum according to eddyflower. Ive done it around 400. It wasnt too painfully scrapy.

Cool, thanks for the reply Rouge. I remember the description on E.F. a couple of years ago but since the site went down havent really found it again. I remember reading about a couple of sketchy sections which they recommended scouting first but not sure where they are. Will keep an eye on the guage and plan to run it sometime in the next week or two. I recall the put-in is at the mouth of Webs canyon just on the South/East corner of the 89/84 intersection. Probably give it a go if it stays at this level and just boat scout it anyway.

Have run the Riverdale to OPP section a couple of times this year. Once below 300 ...Scrapissimo... And once just above 400. Above 400 offers minimal scrapeage and a mellow local run to cool off, do some roll practice, attainments, ferries and play a bit at the two features. For nubes and tubes there are a few strainers along the way but easily avoided with minimal paddling skills.

As for Crystal wave this year well the Ogden is barely flowing and dependant upon releases from Pineview which is well below normal levels due to lack of precipitation in the last couple of years. Hopfully there will be a release for the race but that I imagine is most likely still up in the air. Anyway Ive heard you can still get a little front surf at Crystal even now if you just want to get wet.

And of course there is always the Hen/Tag. Super fun and predictable just a bit more of a drive for O-Townies
