Anyone ever paddle the green below flaming gorge?

Post by telebri1 on Thu 13 Jun 2013, 3:35 pm

Some friends ate going to float/fish the sections just below the dam at flaming gorge. Cant find much info about it. Looks pretty mellow. Class ll maybe one lll. Are there many rapids? Any surf spots? Is it something I should do? Thanks for the feedback.

It's an easy section, mostly class I to II.  We've done it with a tandem canoe and we aren't canoists.
Bring a fly rod,  it's a great fishing section.

If you're ambitious, you'll find something to surf. I found a few waves on the fly at base flow a month or so ago. Beautiful float anyway. There are fairly frequent rapids, they just aren't very long or hard. I enjoyed it. Beats sitting in a raft waving a stick.

Here is the first video I ever did after only two months of boating. Youtube muted it so it sucks even more. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAWiKtAdHoY
