Jackson Area kayak

Post by LarryS on Thu 20 Jun 2013, 7:55 am

The UWC will be kayaking rivers in the Jackson, Wy area June 28 – 30.  We will kayak the Hoback River one day.  Other possible rivers are: Lower Granite Creek, Greys River down to the confluence with the Little Greys, Alpine Canyon on the Snake, and the Gros Ventre if we have enough Class IV boaters that want to do it.  All of these except the Gros Ventre are Class III to III+.  The Gros Ventre is IV-.

To read up on these rivers go to
http://www.jacksonholekayak.com/content/information/online-guide
All the sections are described in this except the Greys River down to the confluence with the Little Greys which is a short Class III+ at lower water.  It’s actually easier at higher flows.

We will be camping at the Kosy Campground 1.4 mi upstream along the Hoback from the confluence with Granite Creek along Hiway 189.
