NEW YEARS DAY PADDLE

Post by Jeff Young on Thu 16 Dec 2010, 11:53 pm

Ok fellow paddlers.... Craig has declined to put together this year's New Years Day Paddle so we need to put our collective heads together and decide if and where we will do it again this year. It was too much fun last year to not do.

We could..... do the Jordan again but it was boring as hell last year.....or Spanish Fork which is only at 120cfs (very low) but its short and sweet. OR, Green River Daily???

Ideas?????

I am not sure about the green river daily. Not sure I would drive down for a cold flat paddle. As far as the Jordan it was boring, but short, sweet, and close. To bad the Jordan Narrows is not running a 900cfs like last February. Bliss wave would be cool, but I don't know how far away it is or if it is even running. Short, but a drive from Utah, and worst for those who live south of Salt Lake. I will attend even if it is a Jordan river run with two or three people.

If it were up to me, I'd pick something that was flowing more than 50 cfs. Like bumping down a section of the Provo Town run ~170cfs?; or maybe even Bear River narrows ~500cfs? Flows may vary by then though. Maybe a secret section of something that's flowing?

But I'll be at the Reno play park this New Year's so... Just throwing those out there, I guess.

Provo Town run was a suggestion Craig made to me today, and I like it too. Lets do that, top to bottom. Agreed?

Yeah that should be fun. If there is enough water we can run the dams.

So... Went to both REI locations, Wasatch Touring and called Greg Joyner trying to find a skull cap to buy. No luck Sad

Anyone have an extra I can snag tomorrow? My noggin is going to get chilly.
