Tons of debris pulled from Ogden River
December 27th, 2010 @ 8:59pm
By ksl.com

OGDEN -- Crews have removed thousands of tons of debris from the Ogden River as part of an ongoing cleanup project.
In a news release Monday, the city said so far cleanup crews have pulled from a portion of the river:

  • 2,400 tons of concrete and scrap metal
  • More than 2,000 tires
  • More than 3,800 cubic yards of litter

The total includes cars, car bodies, motors, toasters, roofing material, bricks and a variety of other items.
A 1.1 mile stretch of river from the Kiesel Avenue footbridge to the Union Pacific right of way is in the process of receiving a complete face lift. It's part of the Ogden revitalization plan that began in January. It included the acquisition and demolition of many run down properties, as well as purchase and donation of properties and conservation easements along the river.
The first section completed -- from the Kiesel area footbridge to Lincoln Avenue - is open. When the project is completed, more than 11,000 feet of river bank and 10 acres of additional flood plain will be added to the river parkway.

Yeah, I heard the news teaser today and waited around to see what was so amazing that they found... what???? No bodies??? I was most surprised by the lack of those than what they did find.
