“Beware the Ides of March”

Post by Lonny Selin on Sun 27 Feb 2011, 2:21 pm

March is upon us with all its flavor and blustery
indecisiveness and Little hints o' sunshine and Green around
the timber-land”
I have talked to many who have the
fever; call it Spring Fever, or Kayaking Fever, or just plain sick of the long
drawn out cold of winter and being cooped up for this long while. March offers the hope of change and that is
one way that I view the celebration of St Patrick’s Day on the 17th. With the patience of a Leprechaun and the
anticipation of a Pot ‘O Gold, the sun comes out and the rivers come up and the
warmer weather allows us to gather and get “wild and wet.”

While we are on the edge of patience, consider the UWC
Layton Wave Pool Event on the 19th of March at. That is Saturday, March 19th at
the Surf ‘n Swim facility in Layton
from 7 to 10 PM. We have had good turn
outs and good times and good support. We
anticipate that the attendance and interest will continue and based on that we
will try to schedule one more Wave Pool Event in the month of April, so stayed
tuned. After that I think I hear a
little stream calling my name.

Bring your boats and paddles family and friends (helmets
recommended – not required). Members
$5.00, Non-members $10.00, family discount. Come get warm and have a good time.

Best access from the South on I-15 is exit #330 East and
turn left (North) on Fort Street.

Cross through the next light at Gentile Street

Turn Left at the second light, Wasatch Drive and an immediate right on

Layton Surf n’ Swim is behind the Layton Municipal
