Snapdragon spray skirts

Post by HoBag on Wed 25 Aug 2010, 2:34 pm

So I have had it with snapdragon skirts. The stitching along the rand always pops, the rip handles always come undone too. They have killer customer service and a 7 day turn around time on getting your gear back to you. Should it have to come to that? Anybody else have similar issues?

I've never had a Snapdragon but I've not heard good things. I've only owned two skirts. Both have been super good. No implosions, leaks or failures.

I purchased a snap dragon reinforced skirt in June and within 4 paddling days the stitching on the bungee had come undone and the grab handle had almost pulled off.

Contacted CKS, the distributor, and had a new skirt within about 3 days.

8 paddling days go by and the exact same thing happens to the new skirt. I request yet another replacement from CKS.

In the meantime the Utah outdoor show happens so I pop over to the snapdragon booth to give my two cents and see what is going on. Apparently they had a bad batch of the rubber bungee because of a failure in the extrusion process of the bungee.

I am now on my third skirt and so far it is working great. Snapdragon also threw in a cockpit cover for my boat as a peace offering.

All of this being said... I will look elsewhere for a skirt next time.

My SnapDragon is the dryest of my 3 skirts. I questin the sizing though. When I bought my last skirt, it said Medium, There was no way it was going on, Went with a large. Kicks ass!!! Maybe the Keyhole is too lil and you are taxing the material.

No, If you were to fat then the tunnel would be stretched, But if you are putting to small of a skirt on a large keyhole, it will pop the rubber around the rim, which is what it sounds like you are describing...

I originally said "My Snapdragon is the leakiest skirt around the cockpit I have ever owned." Turns out I'm talking about my Seals skirt. Yes, I know I can be an airhead.
