Paddling Info for June Visit

Post by twilde on Sun 08 May 2011, 11:37 pm

I'm from the PacNW and plan on visiting family in the SLC area in June and was wondering what runs might be running in mid-June and if there are any groups that I might be able to tag up with for some boating. Interested in III-IV.

Mid June is a crapshoot here. Depends on how cool May stays. Much of the close in local stuff may possibly be winding down or shut down by the dam operators. Some years, though, the biggest runoff happens in early to mid June. Idaho and Colorado are much more reliable. The Moab area runs are sure to be juicy, as well as the 2-3 stuff on the Green river. The Weber and Provo river runs may well have a good flow. Check out Eddyflower for run descriptions.

With all the snow we have right now, there will probably be a few local runs that are still good in mid-June.
