Coming out West...need UT paddle advice

Post by Kevohudd on Mon 09 May 2011, 9:48 pm

I am a southern paddler from Arkansas and happen to be coming to the
Ogden area for business May 22 - 28. I was wondering if someone could fill me in on any
paddling in the area. I usually paddle in CO and out east. I creek and
playboat...I noticed Ogden has a play park? I will need to rent a paddle
and boat. Do you know of any rentals in the area?

I would like to hit a III/IV if someone would be so kind to guide me...If not I will hit the play park. Anything will work as long as I'm on the water.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I will try to my best check this forum, but it might be better to email me directly.

Right next to Ogden is the town of Riverdale, which has both a great playwave (which is off the hook at the moment) and a shop that rents equipment. Check out Riverdale Canyon Sports for the gear, they rent Dagger and Wave Sport playboats and creekboats.

tons of vids of Riverdale on Youtube. There is another playpark within ten minutes of Riverdale wave which is pretty good... along with the Ogden and Weber Rivers that have a good variety of stuff to paddle.

That is a prime time to paddle here; should still be high water.
Another place for rentals, with really good rates, is the Weber State Outdoor Program.

"whitewater package" for $25 ?! - What a deal! I am not sure what they have this year for boats, paddles; if you want something specific. Also, Canyon and Weber State OP tend to sell out, so call ahead. You may have a better selection at these places if you fit in medium sized boats.

Wasatch Touring in SLC rents Jacksons.

I can get out some evenings that week.
