BV PM Crew

Post by mitchin on Tue 24 May 2011, 7:37 pm

Sorry I'm late in getting this post up. Hopeully somebody sees it before you guys put on. Incase you haven't heard already, there is some new wood working its way through Bridal Veil. It looks like Johnnie will be with you guys so he should know all about it, being that he bagged the first descent of it this morning. It was wedged across the entire S-turn line of the second drop. You couldn't see it until it was too late and you had to run it. Luckily it wasn't a foot higher or it could have been bad for Johnnie's health. After our first run it moved a little further down stream and stopped mid-channel parallel to the current easy to see with clear lines either side of it. The right side is much wider due to another log on the left bank of the river. That's where it was when we left so be sure to look for it and scout pretty heavy if you don't find it there, because it's a big log and could easily block the whole river if it wedges in the worng way as it works it's way down.

We tried to get AJ to swim in and clear it for you guys but he was too big of a wuss.

Thanks for the post, that wood is likely to move soon as it was rocking around a lot. BV at 1400 is a blast. I'm afraid it is a bona fide class IV type of ride at the main rapid. One bridge 2/3 the way down is a definite walk or roll under, heads up.

True story Mitch. That gigantus logus nearly scared some baby ones right out of me.

@Craig: missed my am paddle connection. Mind if I join you?

Shoot me a text if you don't mind.
