Has anyone been down the Chutes on Muddy Creek recently. If so, info on hazards, flows, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks RH

Good to go. we got it at 500, buddy ran it yesterday 250, still fun but some bottom dragging. Be sure you get gas before you get off of 70. Fuel is deceptively far away.

I will be down on Sunday morning with my wife and 2 daughters. We are driving a white truck with 2-3 hardshells and an IK on-top.

Leaving here Sat am with a possible run on Sat, maybe Sunday also. Depends what the crowds are wanting to do. Lonny and Leslie sound like they are in too. We need to work out the details soon so people can plan.

The plan as of now is to meet at the chevron at the mouth of spanish fork canyon at 8:30 am saturday morning. Camp saturday and run it Sunday.

That is the chevron on the RIGHT a few miles up from I-15 NOTthe one on the left right as you get off.

Will post if plans change.

sounds like a plan to me.
I was little concerned by the flow data earlier this week(USGS was re-establishing the cfs flow/gauge height relationship); fixed now, should be optimal this weekend.

Time for a Saturday run on Vivian Park, which I'd highly recommend if you haven't done it. Perfect warmup if any newbs are going to do the Muddy (although the Muddy has a couple class III spots).
Gas up in Green River (or the last gas on whatever route you are taking). I would want to finish the 5 hour drive from Vivian Park to the putin in the daylight.

If you are there early, could run shuttle Saturday evening.

I might be down there as well on Sunday with a bunch of beginners. Can someone give me information on where the put-in and takeout are located. That would really help me out. Also, how long does the run typically take?

Here is a message Bill sent me with some great info. I'd suggest you meet us at the chevron and caravan so everyone gets lots together. Smile

I noticed that
Daniel Anderson called the Muddy III+, just fyi. There are two short
cruxes I'd call III. Its mostly class II. The first was a straight
shot, kinda tight; the second was a sharp right turn, with a beach right
after to set safety. That one could be easily portaged if you could
spot it.
The flows look excellent right now.

Google says the fastest way to go is via Green River. Gas up there, take plenty of water. here is the exit off of I-70:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=I-15+S&daddr=I-70+W&hl=en&geocode=FfaFcgIdOJRT-Q%3BFZxHUQIddnpn-Q&mra=dme&mrsp=0&sz=10&sll=41.030679,-111.839447&sspn=0.636075,1.130219&ie=UTF8&ll=38.907064,-110.645714&spn=0.082019,0.141277&z=13

The putin is between Tomsich Butte and Hondoo Arch.
Putin:

Ahh, now Google maps is letting me map the dirt roads.

Has anyone done the Green River Daily lately? I am thinking about hitting that Saturday before trying to head to the Muddy. Anyone up for doing a couple of laps there first. I am leaving with some people from SLC at 8:30 and could maybe run shuttle on the Muddy later on Saturday evening.

The Green River Daily is at 41,300 cfs, fyi. "In high water, expect some pretty size-able waves, strong eddy lines and swirly currents." its colder, and a good brace and solid roll would be a good idea. Swimmers would be better off with full drysuits.

Vivian Park is a more mellow class II that is on the way to down south.
