AF now has real time gauge

Post by Guest on Tue 07 Jun 2011, 3:38 pm

Because the USGS knew I really wanted one. Yeah, right. Anyway, now the Sawmill gauge is real time and I have updated Eddyflower accordingly. I sure hope to see some more folks on the run now.

Actually, Me and Rodney are talking (maybe just talking shit) about a run tommorrow 5:30 pm-ish if anyone is depressed and contemplating suicide. It will be GAME ON so no class 5 posers or you will be set straight and humbled by the river gods. Of course, any or all of us could get a good "non-fetish" spanking just the same. Feel free to come along if you like. Most likely we will dissect then run into short sane sections unless wood dictates otherwise...or we chicken out. affraid

How about the upper AF (sawmill) stretch? I would love to do Tibble Res down also, but there is some new wood in there.

Too much wood on upper

Post by Guest on Wed 08 Jun 2011, 1:41 am

Last look there was a lot of big and bad wood up there. The lower is looking really good from Squiggles down for wood (from a moving road scout)...and it looked reasonable as far as gnar. I'm gonna look really close on foot at every inch of the run before I even seriously consider getting in my boat. I hadn't seen anything that in or of itself would preclude a run yet. It is the combination of the high water, no eddies and general gradient etc of the run that is most concerning. There may be something ugly that I have not seen yet though such as a big terminal riverwide hole, and that will of course be what makes or breaks the possibility of a run at these flows.

did a little at 400+

Post by Guest on Fri 10 Jun 2011, 1:41 am

We did a few short laps from below gun barrel to the mouth. Even this was big, powerful and kinda freaky...but fun. There was just too much upstream with too big of consequences for an error. Maybe at 250 or so. I'll have to see when the water drops.
