Murtaugh this Saturday 6/11/10

Post by Vertder Miff on Wed 08 Jun 2011, 11:19 am

Does anyone want to run the Murtaugh this Saturday? I've posed this question several times in the past and generated surprisingly little interest. Let me elaborate for those that don't know: Murtaugh Canyon is an amazing big water class IV run with one class V rapid (Pair o' Dice) that can be portaged very easily. It's about 13 miles long and is running at a level that it reaches only every few years. It takes about 3.5-4 hours to get there from SLC (just outside Twin Falls). It has one huge wave train after another with some incredible surf if your boat is fast enough. The rapids are big and intimidating, but not very difficult from a technical standpoint. It is a deep canyon, though, so you should be a solid class IV boater; exiting your boat would result in a long swim in a lot of water.
