Update on Logan City Section

Post by Guest on Thu 14 Jul 2011, 8:08 pm

In case anyone was wondering......

Restriction on Logan river ends Saturday (Friday @ midnight). (Just talked with Mayor's office.)

Sorry but, the walking bridge is still a mandatory portage due to clearance (about 18" maybe less) unless you wanna roll over the drop Razz Am guessing will be runnable in a few weeks (hopefully).

Hope that helps,

-Dave

Again, just so ya know... walking bridge is now clearable, just scout it first... sometimes it gets wood (ha ha).... that is... if you dare attempt the hole at the bottom. I've heard you can clear the hole by riding the huge left side rooster tail. Hope that helps. :-)

did you get a chance to look at the bridger section? and if so do you think it would be too gnarly for a beginner if they had someone experienced with them?

not at all. Did it mon and tues at 900. It's no longer pushy like it was at 1300. The small surf waves are forming again (where I learned to surf), and the bridges are all totally clear. In fact.... I think right now, it's probably one of the best sections in utah to learn on, because it's short enough that you can do a few laps on it, and they can familiarize themselves with the run. I.E.... knowing what's around the next corner does a lot for a beginners nerves. Not only that... it ends in a small lake with a slight current coming into it, so you can practice rolls in cold, moving water... where me and many others have learned to boat.

If you want one warning... towards the end (run is only about 20 minutes) theres a small wave train into a right turn... just stay inside... there's no strainers or real threat... just a few SMALL branches hanging low around the corer on your left. If ya hit them... you can tuck to your boat and be fine, but it's just where a beginner might panic and flip... but, I guess good roll practice, right. Anyway, I need to do some trimming there... will try to get it next chance I get.
