Beginner Run Saturday?

Post by Dory on Thu 28 Jul 2011, 4:03 pm

Would really like to see if we can get a small crowd
to do a beginner run this Saturday.
My hubby, Keith, ran the Green River in May and only
a few lakes since then.
The Weber or maybe the Provo?
Any interest? Help from experienced kayakers? other newbies?
Sunday afternoon could work as well.
Thanks, Diane

What time? Beck and I might be down for a Sat or Sun weeb. See if I can remember how to paddle.

Saturday is best, we are pretty open, maybe you have a preference? 11am? (to throw a time out there) Sunday it would be later, like 3pm. bounce I think a little cold water and blue sky would be good for your wounds Craig.

Could you bump the time back? Better for me...noon/1? If not, so be it.

I would be up for doing a Hentag run followed by an Eggs run. Let me know what time at the put-in/takeout.

Eggs portage has large loose rocks

Post by wasatchbill on Fri 29 Jul 2011, 2:44 pm

Eggs below the drops was bumpy when we did it at 615 (Weber@gateway), just fyi. And the siren went off just as we were putting in, so I assume they diverted less then (seemed to go up a bit as we scouted the bend). If the dirt road gate was open, then laps on the bend would be the way to go, imho.

ALSO: we portaged the powerplant dam right. The new construction involves a concrete pad; just beyond the concrete though, the jumble of boulders you need to climb over is very loose. A 3 foot long boulder I stepped on fell into the river. Be very careful of these loose boulders if portaging right.

This was so nice to do, thanks everyone for coming, especially since Craig's First Descents Weber run didn't happen this year. This should be an annual event for everyone, including beginners, when the water drops. Basketball (I just like this one)
