Ogden Narrows rescue practice

Post by wasatchbill on Mon 20 Sep 2010, 4:13 pm

Anyone interested in doing some rescue practice in the Ogden Narrows, shoot me an email at:
wasatchbill at comcast dot net
or get in touch with Craig.
You will need :
Helmet, solid footgear,

A rescue vest, and dressed to swim (water is not really cold now; will be cooler during the race).
and/or
A climbing harness with belay device, and know how to use it. Also handy would be a sling or two with carabiners, sufficient for clipping bolt or tree anchors.

If you have a throw rope, bring it.

Bill

Nice Bill. I was planning on setting up something Thursday after work. 4 or 5 but you can run it if you or so inclined. I will say this though, the only thing that a strong swimmer rescue should be used for on this river is extracting an unconscious swimmer. No piece of gear is worth beating the hell out of the rescuer or putting him/her at risk.
