UWC Layton Wavepool Session Nov 5th

Post by Jeff Young on Sat 08 Oct 2011, 12:53 pm

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the Wavepool season is upon us again.

Starting Sat Nov 5th, between 7pm and 10pm at the Layton Surf and Swim.

Surf 'n Swim
465 North Wasatch Drive
Layton, UT 84041

For people who have not joined us at this event in the past, here are some tips-

This is located near Layton High School and behind the Layton Police Dept, look for the big white dome. We park in the fenced in area at the rear of the building which is fenced in, the gate is around the left side of the building near the dumpsters. First person there reminds the people at the front desk to unlock the gate for everyone. If the weather is wet outside, please be mindful of the grass as we had some issues last year. When bringing in boats through the rear double doors you will be letting out the air that is keeping the dome above the pool up, so please be quick about it. Please be careful with the glass windows in the double doors, we've broken one before with the end of a kayak. We are normally allowed in the pool early, between 6-630, so if you get there early you might get lucky. There are changing rooms and showers on site. You do not pay or sign anything at the front desk, all paperwork and payment is made with the UWC at the picnic table inside the pool area.

Children- Please remember that this is an event where members/guests are here to surf and play in their whitewater boats. Loose children frolicing in the three main wave areas prevents people from catching waves and is both very annoying and quite dangerous. We want everyone to be happy and no little ones getting run over.

A UWC/ACA waiver is required if you are not a member. Helmets are suggested, but not required. The pool, by the nature of it being a wave pool, gets very shallow on one end.

Fees- $5 for members ($10 for families) $10 for non members, you can join the UWC/ACA at the event if you like.

From here on out, no driving on the grass in the fenced in area out back. Some lazy fool backed up around all the cars, across a large portion of the soggy grass and made a huge mess. They didn't like that. Please mention it to anyone you see on the grass. Many thanks! As a side note, we pay a third what it normally costs to rent the place. Let's not screw this up. Smile
