Hentag just bumped to 322cfs

Post by Jeff Young on Tue 15 Nov 2011, 6:18 pm

For people in search of water, hentag just bumped from almost zero to 322cfs. This is a good sign that maybe, just maybe they will flip the switches on other rivers to dump the access prior to heavy snowfall.

Weber @ Gateway 469! Who wants to do Riverdale to OPP, or down to 12th W, or 12th S? Maybe a SUP run? There is still wood in the railroad bridge below OPP btw; should be able to sneak right.

It sure wouldd be nice to get on the river. Unfortunately, with how early it's getting dark, I can't float anything after work. Maybe this weekend, if flows hold!

Could definitely do the Eggs bend + drops. That would be good fun! The runout would be annoyingly bumpy, UNLESS they are not diverting right now. I'll go take a look.

I just went and checked out the eggs... painfully low in the bend/drops. Not doable at all. The high water has moved around tons of smaller boulders and killed the ELF line. Water is being diverted, so from the power plant's outflow port just above the death dam (which is wide open and passable, just don't forget about the rebar in the middle, so stay way right) down to the takeout has enough water for some fun. 89-RW would be runnable too. Lots of interesting lines in there now due to the high water.

Gauge was at 462cfs when I checked the eggs out. Hopefully it will bump to at least 700 on gauge to make it doable. At that level the bend and drops were GTG but the runout was bumpy.

Interesting; I did not get over there yet. Since that work on the Gateway dam last fall, I'm pretty sure they are diverting more than the 275 Eddyflower uses; I had figured 300. But maybe its up to 350 at times.

I would like to start a more convenient stick gauge in the bend. Last time down, the stone wall on river right, at the first takeout opportunity to scout the drops; looked like an excellent spot. The layers of rockwork make a natural gauge of sorts; just need to start keeping track of it there, and maybe correlate to cfs.

(started a new thread about setting some gates)
